CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE OR FAILURE
Definition – Chronic kidney disease is also known as chronic kidney failure which means the inability of the kidney to filter the blood of waste products and also the inability to produce urine. In the case of dogs mostly dogs remove the urine in more quantity but can not able to remove waste products.
In the case of dogs, most cases of chronic kidney disease occur in old age but you can also see this disease in about 10-14 years of age such as in the early stages.
Clinical signs or symptoms of kidney failure in dogs :
- Increase blood flow in the kidney.
2. Loss of water from the body.
3. Dehydration.
4. Excessive thrust.
5. Intake of more water.
Therefore, intake of more water and urination results in kidney failure this is the early symptom called compensated renal failure.
Symptoms: 1. Anorexia ( loss of appetite ).
2. Vomiting.
3. Diarrhea.
4. Depression.
5. Bad breathing.
Sometimes ulcers are also seen in the mouths of dogs.
Diagnosis: For diagnosis take him to a nearby vet your vet must do basic tests such as :
- A complete urinalysis.
- Blood chemistry analysis.
Urinalysis is to determine kidney function. If the urine specific gravity is increased then it is the earliest indication of kidney failure.
An increase of protein in urine called proteinuria also indicates decreased kidney function.
Blood chemistry analysis means that test must include the blood level of other substances such as albumin, globulin, potassium, sodium, calcium, and phosphorus.
A blood test also includes red and white blood cell counts is very important to determine the kidney failure reason.
BOTH TESTS PROVIDES MORE INFORMATION WHICH HELPS IN BETTER TREATMENT
Treatment: Treatment of chronic kidney failure depends upon test results.
For treatment take him to a nearby vet for proper diagnosis and treatment.
Treatment must include intravenous fluid to flush the kidney and bloodstream. This process is known as diuresis and helps damaged kidney cells to function again by eliminating the toxic metabolites and creating an environment for fast recovery.
