Atopic dermatitis in dogs: It is a type of skin disorder such as dermatitis. The word derma related to skin that means it also known as skin disorder. In this disease mostly affected part of body is skin.

DERMATITIS:

Atopic dermatitis is a itchy condition of skin in dogs and cats. Surely pruritic situation. Such as It is also occur in cats. Undoubtedly This is an allergic reaction occur in dogs/cats when your dog inhale air borne substances ( pollen grains and dust particles ) or ingest a substance too allergic to dogs/cats. Moreover the allergic reaction causes your dog to lick, rub, scratch or bite.

Dermatitis causes your dog skin rough, dry, reddish and damage the skin so that you should have to aware about this disease.

SYMPTOMS:

Clearly affected part in dog body are face, feet, armpits and front legs are affected.

  1. Itching.
  2. Skin becomes reddish in color.
  3. Dog scratch marks.
  4. Fleas on dog skin.
  5. Skin become dark also.
  6. Dandruff in hairs.
  7. Red spots on body.
  8. Alopecia ( Hair loss ).

ATOPIC DERMATITIS ALSO KNOW AS ATOPY.

This allergic reaction occur due to high secretion of mast cells as a result of it secrete histamine and other vasoactive susbstances.

Atopic dermatitis is due to food allergies and allergens then we treat this disease.

FOOD ALLERGIES : Food allergy is also cause of dog allergy. If you give same food for whole life to dogs that leads to atopic dermatitis. However dog can reacts a particular substance if you giving it whole time.

HYPERSENSITIVTY OF STAPHYLOCOCCUS: This is due to low immune system of your dog because this allergic reaction comes from bacteria staphylococcus which is diagnosed through bacterial culture or biopsy of affected part.

ALLERGY BY FLY: This allergy occurs in dog by saliva of fleas.

DIAGNOSIS: This can be done by physical examination or biopsy pf affected skin. Examination of bacterial infection. B y examination of symptoms that we already discussed.

TREATMENT:

  1. Medicated bath.
  2. Antibiotics.
  3. Anti histaminic drugs.
  4. Antifungal medication.
  5. Flea control spray.
  6. Omega rich supplements.
  7. Low allergic diet.
  8. Corticosteroids and immune suppressive agents.
  9. Immunotherapy.
  10. Well hygienic condition or environment.

ANTIFUNGAL SHAMPOO ARE FOLLOWING :

1. Ketochlor Medicated Shampoo.

2. Allermyl.

3. Katco pet.

4. Conaseb.

TREATMENT: CEFALEXIN TABLET, KETOCONAZOLE TABLET, METAFLAM TABLET, PREDNISOLONE TABLET. BATHING WITH KETOCHLOR SHAMPOO ( 3-4 TIMES IN A WEEK ). AGAIN APPLY KISKIN LOTION ON SKIN ( 3-TIMES IN A DAY ).

FOLLOW THIS TREATMENT AS PER GUIDANCE OF YOUR VET.

DOSAGE: AS PER RECOMMENDED BY YOUR VET.

Antibiotics and antifungal medicines: Surely antibiotics medicine are generally used in skin infections. Antifungal medicine are generally used to treat secondary infections.

DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS :

For example use the supplements that have sufficient amount of omega rich nutrients like omega-3, omega-6 fatty acid so that dog skin becomes healthy. Surely these fatty acids are anti inflammatory and antioxidative nature that leads to helps in treatment of atopic dermatitis. For this reason these have no any side effects or reaction. In spite of treatment you get good results by using it.

Corticosteroids and Immuno suppressive agents : Apart from other medicines prednisolone are generally used in itchy skin disease that reduce inflammation. Alternative form of prednisone are generally used in itchy skin disease that reduce inflammation. Also alternative form of prednisone is dexamethasone. These corticosteroids used under prescription of your vet because these are few side effects such as increase in appetite or thrust, increase urination and behavioral changes. As a result of long term uses that results in diabetes and decrease resistance to infections.
